When I [first wrote about them](https://marginsofcare.com/agentic-ai-in-orbis-corti-agentic-framework-dedalus-existential-risks/), I highlighted the importance of Corti’s position in the value chain and hinted at the possibility - and the related risks particularly for HIS companies - to own not just the backend [but also the frontend](https://marginsofcare.com/dedalus-wants-to-orchestrate-keeping-microsoft-out-cortis-playbook/) where all the interactions happen. It appears this is not an option Corti is interested in, which they very clearly stated on their blog [more than a year ago](https://corti.ai/blog/strategic-update-accelerating-our-ai-platform-for-healthcare-builders):

> Strategic update: Accelerating our AI platform for healthcare builders. Corti's strategic shift to platform-first approach: focusing on API infrastructure for healthcare builders, with 40x growth in projects and enhanced developer experience…

> We’re focusing all our energy on what we do best: delivering a powerful, developer-ready platform for building safe, compliant, and transformative healthcare applications. Our mission remains the same - to make clinical expertise accessible to everyone - but the way we deliver on that mission is evolving.

> Corti is becoming the foundation on which thousands of healthcare innovators will build. By sharpening our focus and scaling our platform capabilities, we’re creating the conditions for exponential impact: more solutions, more patients reached, and more time saved for clinicians at the frontlines of care.

I regret not digging in the company sooner, as their approach is really interesting. Corti develops [their own](https://corti.ai/models) specialised models but the central offering is the [Corti API](https://corti.ai/agentic-framework). It serves pretty much as a connector between LLMs and clinical apps for both inpatient and outpatient care.

*Note: The sketch above is for illustration purposes only and does not represent actual partnerships. As of today, Avelios is not integrated with Corti, and neither are Tandem Health or Heidi.*

Right now most of the models are Corti-made, but as of this year they are also integrating with specialised CE certified models such as the [Class IIb medication expert from Posos](https://corti.ai/blog/corti-and-posos-bring-certified-medication-intelligence-to-clinical-ai-agents).

Companies with agents or others, interested in developing their own agents, can then just copy/paste the Corti API in their code and voila - they get a set of CE certified models out of the box (Corti models have a CE Class I), which they can run locally and which reportedly [cost up to 50% less](https://docs.corti.ai/models/welcome) than the frontier models.

It’s a win-win scenario - specialised LLMs get distribution while agent developers get the most advanced, compliant and trustworthy models to work with, while maintaining the control over the user interface. Major HIS (Dedalus) and PVS (CGM and medatixx) players in Germany are already on board, and I’m quite certain more will follow.
